I've had my bike for about a year now..and I just don't see why this idles so damn fast, you'd think someone was shooting a automatic p-ball gun or something. Anyone else have that problem with efi?
Get used to it. It's part of the Harley tax. To get the bike you expected from the HD legacy with HD parts, you need SE-II pipes, an SE air cleaner and SERT/SEST to retune the control module.
Do it soon, because the new SE slip-on pipes are not the same sound as the old ones, and the old ones are getting harder to find.
After that, youl'll get a longer lasting engine (not running so lean and hot), better performance, and can lower the idle some and recover some of the "potato-potato" idle sound.
Hey thanks folks. You have just told me why the 1200 EFI Sporty doesn't get the fuel mileage my 1200 carbed model does. The dang things idle 200 rpm higher.
When I was having my bike dyno'd it starting idling high (around 1200-1300 rpm). The indy called the local Stealership and found out that if you turn your bike off before it comes down to an idle, the computer will learn the last rpm as the idle speed. I can't remember the combination, but it has to do with turning the ignition on and off in certain intervals. After he complete the cycle it went back down to about 950-1050. Might be something you want to check with at the dealer.

Same experience here as RDSS. Don't know if it's the same as my 08 fly by wire throttle reset, but try this. For the 08 Street Glide (when the idle becomes confused and runs up to 12-15 hundred due to shut off while at high rpm)
Turn your "run" switch to on and leave it on. Then turn main main power (key) on for 8 seconds / off for 4 seconds / repeat 3 more times without delay. (honestly, this might be one more cycle than necessary, but I cant recall for sure)
on 8 seconds
off 4 seconds
on 8 seconds
off 4 seconds
on 8 seconds
off 4 seconds
on 8 seconds
off
start the motor. If you have the same idle control logic ... you will have just reset your idle speed to factory. Cure = let it idle down before shutting it off. Again ... it works on my 08 street glide. Not sure about your bike.
Dealer has a chip download but will tell you that it can introduce lag in throttle repsonse. I chose to pass on the d/l.
