i was explaining to someone that putting the front cam in the 3 oclock postion using the scribed mark on the cam will put the front cam in the shortest part of the lobe to cut out the pushrods and then later to adjust the pushrods. after they bleed down you rotate the tire until that mark is then at the 9 oclock postion then you cut the rear push rods. also you can adjust the new ones in this same matter. only use the front cam for reference.
note: not a pro, just something i noticed that made it easier and faster.

mafosa, My cams dont have the marks like yours do, but:
REAR CYLINDER base circle: Line up the timing marks on the frontmost sprockets (crank, cam) (primary cam sprocket timing mark pointing to about 5 oclock to 7 oclock- very forgiving) .
FRONT CYLINDER base circle: Position the primary cam sprocket timing mark at 12:00 oclock (primary cam sprocket timing mark pointing to about 11 oclock to 1 oclock- very forgiving).
Dont take my word for it, check it out for yourself.
Also, my crank runout was .002 FWIW.
Front lifter block chrome was flaking away inside the o'ring seat and the pushrod tube springs/ washers were rusted to $hit so I'm replacing them. Waitin on new parts- FAWK!! Dont want hard chrome plating hammering away at the lifters/ bores etc. so I'm erring in the direction of replace the parts while I'm in there. The wait for parts is killing me!!
Well I have mine apart, took the plate to the local indy and got raped so I will not be going back there. I did not feel like going through the hassle of driving down to the City to use my friends press and it cost me $79 I almost kicked the guy in the *****. I could have bought the press from Harbor for $100.
I did find out from HD while looking for the single spacers there is another kit $8 less and includes one more spacer. So I picked all the stuff up but I am short one lifter block gasket.
I am going to measure run out while there, a little bit scary from what I see already. Starting to look into welding and the timkin! I ride my bike in the twistys and hit the track because I like to. So engine braking is a big part of my riding style. Eventually going to have to fix it cause I can't break my old habits!
Sometimes I wonder why I put up with this? I am building a nice photo trail as I go and will post the pix, and the part# for the kit. The shoe in the back is nasty and the front is showing some wear they have about 13k on them and I am glad they are getting replaced.

Good to hear you've got most of the parts and got to start the teardown. What did you find with the crank shaft thats got you wierded out? Was there lots of wear?
My runout was only .002 with no wear in the oil pump/ plate interface.
I fired mine up today and got a nice ride. Made a BIG difference but I lost 10 PSI in oil pressure- WTF?
Some wear on the plate and pump minor but a concern since these 06 cranks are problematic. The gauge will tell. I am hoping for not bad but I am usually not that lucky?
Run out was .002 I can wipe the beads of sweat of my head now! I am thinking a little misalignment of the old pump! So it is going back together today and I will post pics and #'s soon.
