Default mid control leak

first before anyone beats me up i HAVE ordered the service manual and parts guides they just haven't showed yet. i have started a leak out of the old mid control hole and was wondering what to do to fix it. also what is the proper procedure for checking and changing the primary oil?
thanks

Depending on what year your dyna is there is either one or two o rings on the shifter shaft for the mids. Just pull the inspection cover and see how many o rings and get them and put them on. It is a very simple fix.

It looks like you have a 2006 Dyna and I suppose you have forward controls... You most likely need to replace the tower gasket in the shifter shaft tunnel. It is an easy job. It costs about $2.00 but you will need to also replace the primary cover gasket which costs about $40 !

attached is a pic of the tower gasket, also the primary with the cover off, the arrow points to where the boss where the gasket goes (yours is open here, mine is welded closed.

i found a post BEFORE i had this problem where someone said 9/16 freeze plugs in both ends did the trick but now i can't find that write up.... There's really no way without wasting the primary gasket? that sucks

Mine did the same thing. When I replaced the tower gasket, I also filled about half of the shaft with oil resistant silicon in case it leaked again. I didn't like buying the primary cover gasket. I also used it as an excuse to remove the powder coating from the primary cover and hit the polishing wheel with it.

The issue with bolts, freeze plugs etc is if they fall out into your primary while you are moving you are going to have "a problem", per my local dealer's techs...yet there is a giant bolt sticking out of the outer primary that doesn't seem of concern, so go figure.

well i went for it today. i put 2 9/16's freeze plugs in and in theory they cant fall out. i drove the inner plug past flush and the plug in the primary cover i left sticking past a bit so it actually goes into the inner shaft hole. the only problem i have now is one of my derby cover torx is stripped a bit so i hit it with aerokroil and hopefully i can get it tomorrow so i can fill her up
