Default Extensions after handlebar change

From everything I read I was under the impression that I would only need to possibly add control extensions for 12" bars. Not only do I need them for the controls I need them for the signals and throttle. Has anybody ran into this when adding 12" bars? It's on a street bob if that matters.

Almost certainly...
For reference purposes:
I fitted a set of 14" King Curve Rhino 2" Handlebars to my custom 2019 Fat Boy but the kit came with all the extension wiring and cables.
I've also just added a set of CHUBBYŽ 10" PULLBACK DRAG BARs to my 2023 Sport Glide.
It turned out that the actual height of the bars was 11 1/2".
The wiring for the controls and throttle were just ok, the Clutch line was just ok, but the Brake line needed extended.

So, I'm guessing that, for 12" bars and that extra 1/2", (assuming that they are in reality 12") would mean that you would probably need to extend everything.
It may be worth talking to a Dealer or Indie to find out if they have done a bar swap and whether or not they needed to extend the wiring and cables.

I just changed bars and riser on 25 Street Bob... I also added 2" and 2" pullback on my LRST..... Seems to me, 2" is pretty much it. Brake and clutch will be tight. Wires will be fine.... Anything after that... It just depends. It depends how much pull back, how much bars themselves are pulled back, or not. Is the bar you are going to a straighter run for wires, or longer?

I added 6" riser to Street Bob, but kept overall rise pretty close. I was worried about having enough Gage/display harness ... I did. You have to dig into the wire harness, go back to caddy in backbone, and make sure all your harness wires are ran as straight as possible. All said and done I have plenty of harness with a less than 2" rise + 2" pullback going from apes to motos... 3" would be tops, but depends on your bars.

At the end of the day ... Seems 2" is tops for no problems... After that you are stretching your harness. You are pulling it every turn, are you impinging on an edge, are you going to pull a wire out, are you going to eat a hole thru it somewhere???

Order extensions and don't worry about it. After doing my Street Bob I'm reconsidering my LRST. Wires are tight, clutch and brake are tight. I'm probably ordering extensions to save future grief. On my LRST... Yes, you absolutely can add a 6" riser with 2" pullback... But it's very much borderline and definitely no more... It's your call man.

Street Bobs seem to have the most amount of extra wiring. I put 10" risers on my SB without the need to extend, however that seemed to be the max. On my LRST a 2" riser extension was max.

12" doesn't surprise me that everything needs extending.

Finally getting around to finishing this and I can't for the life of me get the rubber boot back to where it's supposed to be. Considering the tank should hold it in place, is it ok to leave it like this?

I've struggled with that damn boot as well. It's not going anywhere like that, but it's not right. Get a plastic pry tool and work it with the tank off. You should be able to get it.
