Default Need New Handle Bars

First off, I'm not asking how tall I can go without changing cables. Lol

But what I am asking for is some advice. I'm a stubby f_cker. 5' 10" on a good day. I want to go away from the stock bars on my 21 Street Glide. I don't want to go crazy tall; I'm talking 10 or 12 inch. I have heard other guys with my stature that complain that they have to lean forward when the changed bars and if they rotated the bars back enough to be comfortable, the controls couldn't be lined up right because the hole where the wiring goes into the handlebar won't allow the controls to be rotated enough.

I am hoping to avoid both of these situations by coming to you all for help. Are there other stubby riders out there that have found a bar that can provide enough pull back where a 5' 10" rider isn't leaning forward, while also allowing the controls to be in the correct position? I'm not fussy about the style of the bar as long as it's chrome. Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I've got Wild1 Chubby mini apes (10") on my Road Glide that I like. Definitely a matter of personal ergonomics though. If you can, find several bikes with different bars to sit on. Or order a couple that are likely to be close to what will fit you, mock fit them, and then send back the ones you don't like. A restocking fee is way cheaper that changing bars several times.

I got the Viking 12 inch bars that are made by Magnum Shielding. One thing I found out after they were installed is that Magnum measures the height of the bars at the end of the bar instead of the peak like most manufacturers. I'm 5' 9" and ride an Ultra Limited. These bars are very comfortable for me. The deciding factor for me was the pull back and tip to top measurements on the bars. I'll try to send you a copy of the excel sheet that I listed several different bars and the measurements.

I went with 12” bars from fat bagger inc. I have them pulled back more than most and am really happy with them, I am 5’11

Wait, what? 5'10" is stubby? Average North American Male height is 5 09.

I’m not short in height but my arms are shorter than average so I found myself having to lean forward a little to reach the stock bars on my ‘21 Ultra-Limited. The wrist angle was also uncomfortable on long rides and would make my thumbs go numb.

I tried both H-D Tall Boys and LA Choppers 10” Twin Peaks and although the wrist angle was better, they didn’t work for me because they didn’t come back any farther than the stock bars. The bigger issue I found when trying to pull them back wasn’t the position of the controls, it was that the design of the bars would cause them to hit the tank at full lock left and right.

If finally tried the Khrome Werks 2+2 Narrow Sweepers and they put my hands in a comfortable spot with a good wrist angle. They’re designed to put the grips 2” higher and 2” closer, which was exactly what I needed. Their design also lets them be pulled back a little farther without hitting the tank.

I got Harley bars. Check out their website. Mine are 10”. Don’t put my hands out of the fairing, my aim. The factory bars felt odd.

The average American man is more like 5' 10 1/2".

I'm 5 ft 8 "
Krome Werks 2+2 narrow sweepers did me fine on my 08 Ultra
2 in up and 2 in back.Hands still behind fairing.
Did replace clutch cable but it could have been done.without it. I used a + 4 But + 2 would have been just fine.
Everything else works just fine.

If you search 2+2 sweepers or narrow sweepers there are a good number of threads
