Default TECHNO RESEARCH FLASH

Hi All,

I'm looking at buying an older HERTZ 300 watt amp from a bud.

He has a 21 Street Glide I have a 21 Ultra Limited. I've verified the harness adapter he has is used for both bikes. (He has 2 speakers in the dash, I have an additional 2 speakers with my tour pak.)

Next I learn I need the techno research flash for my oem boom to marry it. Closest dealer is over an hour away, should cost $100-$150 I'll hear back from the vendor tomorrow this isn't available from a Harley dealer.

The flash tool is about $500. Can a private owner use his flash module on my bike ? If so and if anyone has one and willing to do it for less let me know. I'm in the Scranton Wilkes-Barre area a little North of Scranton.

The OEM system isn't bad. Of course more is better but in this case yeah money is an issue. I can be pretty happy without it. Man, soo many rabbit holes. If I buy the amp it's going to be about $200.

Thanks for Reading,

Joe

it's not that you're marrying the amp to the headunit, it's the fact that the HD eq is super aggressive, the flash flattens the eq. Contact Volunteer Audio, they do a rental of the flash tool, you pay for the unit, when you return it, you get all but a small fee back...

Should be noted that the cost of the unit is $389 and they only give you $110 back with $10 subtracted from that amount every day that goes past the 14 day rental. So it would be more accurate to say that you get less than a third of the cost back.

yeah that is insane! it didn't use to be that costly, better off traveling somewhere further or buying it outright. Lots of stereo installation shops have the equipment to do the flash, Rockford Fosgate dealers can do it, I used a well known stereo shop near me to do my flash.

OP, here you go! here's a list of RF dealers that can flash your Boom system, FYI, you do not need to be using RF equipment, to use this flash, RF is one of the more popular flashes that's used

I went ahead and bought a TR tool from VA a year or two ago because I wanted to flash my head unit completely flat, and the RF flash didn't do that. A lot of folks can get by with the RF flash if they only have two or four speakers and don't push them hard, but if you go beyond that and especially if you ever get a DSP you will need a flash that doesn't have ANY dynamic EQ functionality. I wanted to keep a TR tool on hand because it will do much more than just audio flashes.

I was happy with the RF flash for a while, but once I added a DSP it was very obvious that I had to kill they dynamic EQ in order for my DSP to do its job.
