Default Time for new tires 2020 Ultra Limited

While doing normal checks on the bike (Tightening any loose bolts found) I noticed my back tire is worn down. Oh well... Guess it's that time. So, I will swap them both out. I decided to get the Michelin Commander III front and rear. Hopefully they do well. Since I noticed the tires, I thought I might as well check my brakes. Well of course they are boarder line... The tires I will take to my local private shop to get done. Since they have the tires off, I guess I will let them do the brakes as well. I just don't have the time to do i myself. Normal wear and ter I guess. I cannot grumble too loudly.

Has anyone gotten these tires and have n opinion on them? A buddy of mine swears by them. Also, I am going to buy the EBX Double Sintered brake pads if I can find them. Or maybe Lyndall not sure yet. Any opinions there?

I always replaced the brake pads when getting new tires. I removed the wheels and carried them in. I liked the Michelin Commander tires. They were a much smoother ride then the Harley branded Dunlop tires. They had about the same tread life.

I used the Harley brake pads. I heard about too many issues on here with your thought about that choice. I do all my own work except tire mounting and real dynamic spin balancing. Beads don't balance.

By the third brake pad set, my rotors were down to minimum thickness. There is not a lot of extra material on a bike rotor. By then anyway, the finish doesn't tend to give smooth even braking.

if you don't have a TPS system, here's your chance to consider adding one

Ordinarily I would do all m y work except for the mounting and balancing. However, I am absolutely swamped at work, and I just cannot fit it into my daily schedule. (Yes, we are working weekends as well) I hate paying someone to do anything I can do. At least I will be able to safely ride the bike when all is said and done.

I have used Michelin's on my FXDL ( I believe they are the Commander 2 ) no complaints about them.

I put Mich Comm 3's on begining of this season.

I have Almost 2k on them. 2up mostly. I really like them. Smooth ride and my RGS tires are lo profile. Great in twistys. Quiet.

I'm sold on these from now on.

As for tires, it's always tough to take an account of new tire reviews. I mean, what is better than the feeling of a new set of bike tires vs. the greasy worn-out skins you just replaced?

It's amazing how slow and slight the degradation is on a well maintained set of bike tires, and then you get the new skins on and...it's a whole new wonderful world! Best feeling, ever.

I keep threatening to try the Michelins. I have 2 sets of the original AEs to get through. I bought a spare set when they announced the US closure. Good reports so far on the AE2s, though.

I ended up going with the EBC brake pads. Some of these web sites are weird. They do not sell them in a set of pads for the entire bike. Only fronts or only rears... Pain in the butt. I called Eastern Performance and they hooked me up. (I have used them regularly for parts and they deliver really fast) Monday I drop it off... I am looking forward to feeling fresh skins on it. I bet it makes a world of difference. I am sure I just do not notice the slow wear and change in handling over time.

Also, I watched a video of the top-rated tires, and the Commander III was on top. Of course that is all subjective with widely varying opinions, but I am happy with my choice. More to follow on how they last and perform. Ride safely everyone.
