Deluxe Dash Panel Help?
I have the HD dash panel extension #71283-01 and have read all the old posts on how the Deluxe guys and gals painted the inserts on both sides of the extension gloss black to match the upper console that's mostly black. Upon receiving it, the two up and down inserts on each side that would be painted has a very rough texture to it. From the Pics I have seen that were painted, the painted area seems to be smooth and black like the console. I don't think that there is enough paint in China to build up the texture enough to be smooth? Did you guys smooth it out with glazing compound before paint? Someone please set me straight! I have thought about either taking it to my brother who does vinyl sign work and try to cut out two vinyl strips to fill in the area. The second is to have a buddy that does car wrapping see if he can cut me two pieces of that material and use that. I am afraid both of these solutions will not hold up to the weather or even to stick at all. I think plastic paint is where I want to be but not sure. Any help would be appreciated.
