Default Anyone here been "Forked by Frank"?

I have a 2007 FXSTB that the previous owner installed the 52mm Marzocchi inverted front end on (48646-06A). The rear is lowered with bolts, which I plan on swapping for a SS in the future. My question regards lowering the front end. I have researched this in depth, and found no way to accomplish this. I was put in contact with the Salinas Boys in CA, who then returned my call and suggested I contact Forks by Frank in Evanston, IL. This shop manufactures and also cuts down fork tubes to fit specific application.

I am expecting a call back today from one of the techs as to what this entails, and how it will affect the handling of the bike. I've found several threads through a google search all with positive, but not too detailed feedback.

Can anyone shed anymore light on this subject?

Thanks in advance.

All I can tell you is that he has been in the fork business for a long long time. I've never heard anything bad about the shop, and I'd guess they must being doing something right!

Installed a set of Forks by Frank back in 1980 after they were recommended by a very trusted friend and top notch HD mechanic - they were perfect. They had great chrome and fit perfect. Family owned business that has survived for decades by excelling at what they do. They had a recommendation in American Iron Mag this month too. You can trust that you're getting what you want and need.

I knew "frank the Forker" about 40 yrs ago. He was quite the character. He made the best tubes available then. I assume his kids run the business now. I have been forked by Frank.

Forking by Frank is as old and trusted a name as you will find in the custom motorcycle parts business. I've bought forks from them at least twice.

Default Update

Mary (Franks wife) is in a home and is not expected to come out. Her daughter already has a great job in corporate America and is not expected to stay long to help out, Marty the machinist has not ben working so the shop is temporally closed down until they can figure it all out. Mary took care of the front office, ordering, and the books while answering the phone. I hope the best for them all. I hope Marty gets back to work and he told me he is swamped with work.

This is my first real motorcycle I built when I was 16 years old. I purchased Franks forks to extend the front end. I brought/carried this bike home in wicker apple baskets about 1 1/2 miles away. It took me one year + to complete. I was allowed to roll it outside on my 17th birthday, when I was legally able to apply for a drivers license. It is a 1952 BSA A-10 but has a 750cc modified motor built by the Mataka Brothers in Voxhall NJ.

PS: I think this was the year of 1964 that I built it.

Thanks for the responses guys. Heard back from Marty the other day and unfortunately, they don't do anything as far as modifying the inverted front ends. Looks like if I want to lower the front, I'll have to swap forks.
