i decided to wrap my levers but with a twist. i used paracord to wrap them. i haven't burnt the ends yet so this is very easily removable at the moment. just not 100% convinced.
what's your opinion?

Personal decision of course, I don't like the look and it looks as if it may be uncomfortable. Since you have gone this far and if you like the look you may as well try it.
Think you'll have an issue with it twisting and needing to constantly straighten it out? Might become a tedious thing after a while but like you said, it's easily removed.
I have leather covers on my 883, really like them. The cord might work ok, but I wonder how the knot/seam rows top and bottom are going to feel; my leather laces in the back, where you never touch it. A single row at the back would probably be more comfortable and look better, but I don't know if that would be enough to hold the cord tight together on the front side. Wouldn't be as smooth as the leather, either.
550 cord or Parachute cord will outlast the bike but it will be slippery if you ride barehanded. I had a talented guy do my entire steering wheel on a M1009 CUCV I owned in the same weave they use on ships wheels only they use a rope instead of 550. It was awesome and I had better grip on that wheel than anything I've ever used.
Look up various weaves and you'll find the name of it. Here's a pic of mine, loved it better than the truck.
