have seen on ebay led 1157 bulbs or ones that are flat. is there anything special needed to install these on my 05 heritage FI model. have seen taillight assemblies that look like they would work. do not want to spend the money if they will not work.
There was a review with pictures that seem to show that replacement 1157 LED bulbs may not be as bright as a standard bulbs. Older report but i have not seen an LED 1157 bulb that is significantly brighter in all directions at a reasonable cost.

An 1157 bulb is a dual filament push-in and turn bulb that is used in older rear tail light applications.

I have the red 1156 LED's from autozone ($15.00 pair) and also bought a pair of red incandescent 1156's and compared. Brightness is about the same, but I noticed that the regular bulbs are more dark red and the LED's are about the same color as the taillight (not a dark red). So, with brightness being about the same, I stayed with the LED's. I also think the LED's catch your eye better because of the way LED's display when lit (losta small bulbs).
