Default Winter storage????

I have a 05 Fatboy since 06. I have always just filled the tank all the way up and let it sit till the big thaw was over, not adding anything to the tank. Does anyone out there use stabil in their tank?

I mostly use Stabil, but I haven't had any problems when I didn't use anything. Maybe we're being scammed?

This.

We have an 18 year old riding lawnmower - and the carb has never been off of it.
Seafoam every year with a full tank. Same for our motorcycles and power equipment.

I can't scientifically prove that it works - but it appears that it doesn't hurt anything, either.

I use Stabil in my bikes. Seafoam works just as well. I also use a fogging oil in the cylinders.

I use Seafoam, but IIRC Stabil has a one year shelf life once it's been open. Not sure if it gels or what. Seafoam also cleans and has no shelf life after opening. JMO

I get a new bottle of stability every year. Fill up the tank and pour it in. Never had a problem. Lawnmower and generator too!

Just picked up a new bottle of Sta-bil the other day, since my current one is nearly empty.

I get the larger sized bottle, with the measure chamber on the side, and use it in the gas-can fuel for all the small engine filling needs throughout the year. I also use it for storage in all the bikes (5) and such.

Noticed a new thing on the label this time--there is a place to enter the date when you open the container, and it says that the contents are good to use for two years after first opened.

I've never has a bottle of Sta-bil go bad from sitting, but it's nice to know that it is good for at least two years on the shelf after opening. I suppose that the actual usefulness is considerably longer than that, because you might add it to some fuel at or near the two-year-after-opening date, and it should still work for that fuel.

All the best,

Shane

Thanks Shane. I stand corrected. I just remembered Stabil would go bad after opening.
