To be honest from a UK perspective, I would not be surprised by these moves. The Dyna WG is expensive, removing it and the Softail Standard would leave a genuine£££ gap between Dynas and Softails. The Softail Standard never came to the UK this year and neither did the Deuce and I cannot remember seeing a WG on the local dealers floor over here this year. I do not believe the Dyna WG, Springers and Road King customswere big sellers in the UK anyway, so we will probably not miss them. As long as the FXSTC comes over in late 07/08 I will be happy.

I've only seen one Springer in the past year and I've been on a lot of organized rides. I can see why they are going. Too bad, they are classy bikes. Too old school, I guess. Kind of surprised at the Wide Glide too. I'd ditch a couple of the other Dynas first.

As a Duece owner I'm sorry to the them go. In Florida there seem to be plently. As a coincidence my neighbor 2 doors down from me also owns one (though I didn't realize until after I bought mine), and I seem to pass one everywhere I go. Obviously this must be a regional thing.

I think one of the Duece's downfalls is it's awkward appearance with saddlebags. Thus making it difficult to travel any significant distance. Also the fact that seemingly any aftermarket part is made for all softails "except FXSTDI".

Nonetheless, I lovewhat I have. And have no intention of getting rid of it. It's still an HD. Hell I didn't get rid of my 4runner because they changed body styles.

One question for 'deadeye'...what is the "Bad Boy"?
Imagine an evolution engine Night Train with a Springer front end. Bad Boys were made for a few years in the 90s and then discontinued.

I agree with the comment that they should have cut more Dynas instaed of Softys. I have nothing against Dynas, but they seem to sit in the Showrooms longer. I can't believe the Low Rider outsells the Wide Glide either.. Hell, Wide Glide & Street Bob are the only Dynas I would want.

I'm, looking forward to some cool new models. But, since engine and tranny was just upgraded for 07, don't expect more than cosmetic variations on existing platforms.

You'll never see the Bad Boy again.
Springer front ends do not sell.

I'm kind of suprised about the Wide Glide also, seeing as they have two super glide models and the Street Bob, which is almost the same.

I'm not suprised about the ST standard though, now that the custom is back. The Deuce will probibly become a Screaming Eagle product like the Springer did.

They are probibly going to re-tool those production lines for the next generation Harleys.[&:]

I would bet the Deuce is gone for good. They did the SE thing a couple of years ago, and I don't see them keeping it around for another kick at the can.
Sadly, nobody wants one....
Springer? Gone...
No market to make the bike an existing model.
I guess they figure if you want one bad enough, it'll be in the parts catalog.

I would hope they introduce some new/old stuff. I know the chopper thing has been thrown around, but I personally don't see it. The chopper craze/fad is coming to the end sometime soon..
I would bet that they start going more retro/bobber, and get back to their roots.
Back to the original lines and tank decals/plates.
I look for a 1980 style, all black & red striped Low Rider.
Don't be surprised if a new "Sturgis" model re-appears.

Having said that, I full well expect them to introduce the ElectraGlide Ultra with a Revo engine in 2008.
Not because of emissions, S&S already has a 124"emissions engine so it can be done, but rather for smooth power and economy. The R&D is bought and paid for, so they will use it, and soon.

I think what Aliandray said really does make sense. there is currently a big overlap (pricewise) between the Dyna's and Softies. The WG and STC are priced almost the same and to many look very similar, of course you have the different suspension and engines between the two models. I think they could also ditch the Super Glide Custom also, but you need the Standard Super Glide as a step up (pricewise) from the Sportsters. With this move the Dynas will range from about $12.5k - $16.5k and the new Softail line will run from $16k - $18k and then the baggers from $17.5k - $21k. So from a price perspective this streamlines the model lineups and eliminates the overlap. Ill assume this also has something to do with profitability as well?
