Default Air cleaner question

I am a new HD owner (07 fatboy). The question I have is can I put the screamin eagle stage 1 air cleaner kit on my bike and keep the stock pipes? The reason I ask is I am stationed in germany and the local police will ticket orimpoundyour bike if it is to loud. I would like to try and add some more power. Can I just add the air cleaner kit by itself or would I also need a PCIII. Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

im no expert but i dont think just adding the air fillter will help.
and the stock pipes kill the performence. new pipes on there own or prefreblly the complete kit, just my 2 cents.

DMJ i have been riding here for 4 years and i only had one encounter with the politzi. All they will do is check for baffels; there are so many pipes to chose from that offer baffels. I really wouldnt worry about it; i havent heard of anyone who have had their bike impounded yet just a 25 euro ticket.

I don't think it does much good to just change the AC. You're letting it 'breathe in,' so you have to let it 'breathe out' too. You can get slip ons, then you will just need the stage 1 download to your ECM. There are quiet pipes available; mine have a quiet baffle. If you go with aftermarket pipes, then you will need a tuner.

not much of a upgrade without pipes ..you canjust put a K&N filter on what you have.. better filtration, reuseable, and you won't need any recalibration...don't expect much on performance though.

You can do it and will get some power gain. But, you would gain more if you opened up the exhaust too, because you can only get so much air into the engine without letting a like amount out. Ask around the local folk, maybe you can get more open pipes that are quiet enough to stay out of trouble.
