exact same thing has been and still is happening to my bike. Same bike even, 2013 slim. Randomly slow cranks, but eventually starts. occasionally happens in the morning after taking it off battery tender (I plug it in every night). But almost always happens after work, after sitting outside all day.
First time I brought it to dealer, I assumed it was dying battery, and since under warranty, might as well get a new battery for free. They said battery and charging system was fine. The problem was the thundermax tuner messing up the compression. I took it home and removed the thundermax and hooked up the stock ecm. Problem still there.
Second time at dealer, they claimed the boom audio radio I installed was wired up wrong and causing a draw on the battery. I took it home and unplugged the radio, which I had wired through the accessory plug. Problem still there.
Third time at dealer, which is today, they started to tell me it needs to be tuned, since it has an aftermarket exhaust and no tuner. I explained to them (incase they forgot) that they claimed the thundermax was the problem and that's why I took it off, to prove to them its not. They said they will look at it, to see if they can figure out anything else with it, but is most likely having its starting problems from not being tuned. I left it and am waiting to hear from them.
I will watch this thread to follow your outcome, and I will also update mine, when it gets fixed.
I have a 2013 Heritage and after sitting all night in the cold (in garage) on the battery tender it turns over slowly, then starts. This is unlike the 2009 Electra Glide I had before this one that would immediately crank. I was told by an Indy that is because this bike has a 103 engine with a less powerful battery with battery space being limited in a softail frame.
I called yesterday afternoon to check on status. They said battery was weak, had dead cell. So they replaced it. In an attempt to duplicate my problems, and see if the new battery fixes it, they kept it over night, in the coldest part of their shop. They will start it first thing this morning to see if the battery was the problem or if there is still something else. Hopefully I will be getting a call soon.
Picked it up today. They said it had a slight hesitation, but started right up. When I picked it, it did the same slight hesitation. I'm fine with that. I'll ride it for a few days before plugging the radio back in, just in case it actually is wired up wrong. Don't want to give them any more excuses. Hopefully all is good.
My 09 Ultra has always turned over once, hesitated then fired up on the second revolution. The least bit of weakness in the battery and it was no go. Couple of months ago wouldn't start when I really needed it.
I replaced it with a higher cranking amp battery and it''s great.

Now that u have a new battery. Keep it on a tender.
Even when I'm riding it? Or it's sitting at work in the parking lot? Or at other various parking lots away from my garage? As stated before, I plug mine in every night.
