I'm going to swap out my stock (2010 Fatboy Lo) rear light and turn signals for the Genesis 2 LED tail light. Every site I see this on says that I "may" need a load equalizer...of course J&P says "yes you do"; but all the reviews I've read make no mention of this.
Has anyone installed this light and is this part necessary? I can't find any reference on here about the load equalizer either.
You do not. Just install the led’s and if your flashers are fast, turn the key on and then I think the procedure is something like turn on your left turn signal let it flash for 30 second, then the right, then back to the left. Do a search, it is listed here somewhere. Worked for me, and I have led’s all around.
The "hack" I got from Custom Dynamics for re-synchronizing the flash rates between the lights and the dash was to just run the four-ways for 2 or 3 minutes.
So I was wondering how the install and light worked out for you. I just got my 10 fatboy lo and was looking to do the same thing. I was trying to see if I needed a equalizer also? Figured Id ask how yours turned out and if it all works good?

I believe 2010 was the last year a load equalizer was needed on the Softails as the MOCO went to a Canbus system in 2011 for the Softail line.
@nascarfan is 100% correct. If you are removing the stock turn signals or replacing them with LED signals on a 2010 or earlier Softail, you will need an equalizer or Smart Signal Stabilizer.
