Default FP3 tuning???

I have run over a tank on the auto tune and I am unable to get any more cells to populate Green. I have attached a pic, does this look normal? When can I be satisfied to upload the tune as my bike runs like crap in AUTOTUNE mode, and really has not run well since I put my Short Shots on.

Please advise.

I would save the autotune and see how the bike runs.

I think you would get more answers if you posted your question here:

Sucks that you are having problems. mine just came in the mail today so i havent got to put it on yet. Everyone told me that V&H customer service is top notch and if you call them with problems they are very good at taking care of it. Hope you get it figured out. Kinda scared of mine now.

Don't be, I have installed a few, they are an easy tuner to install and configure. I have not had a chance to play with the FP3 AutoTune, I have a PV with AutoTune Pro and I run an AT session, flash, run AT again, repeat until bike is running optimally with little to no change in AT sessions data.

No reason to be scared. My Lo ran rough on autotune also 'til I flashed the new map. I actually found their stock map to be better though and flashed back to that. I am running V&H pipes which helps, 'cause they're obviously gonna dyno maps for their equipment first over somebody else's pipes. I ran my autotune for at least a couple tanks but you can continue to flash and autotune as you go as I recall. The trick is to try and hit as many riding conditions as you can before you flash the new map. High rpm, low rpm's, low speed, mid range, high end, flat out haul ***, etc. and every combo there of. I just think that they can do that a lot easier and more effectively on a dyno than we can in real life, hence, their map works better. My bike runs great now (when it's not snowing) and I couldn't be happier.

I just installed my FP3 this past week. 13 Heritage, Vance and Hines Straight Shots slip-on's, Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage II. I uploaded the base map and have yet to auto tune. Bike is running well at the moment.

However I did read somewhere that while auto tunning you may experience rough running engine as it is trying different AFR's etc. After a couple of auto tune sessions, re flash and see how it feels. You can always return/re flash to the first download.

I have the rinehart cross backs and RSD turbine AC. Waiting to get my bike back from the dealership still to put it all on. Not like it matters as to i have the same winter problems as many of you do. Just going to auto tune it while i do burnouts in my garage.

Thanks for all the answers guys. I will flash and keep tuning until I can fill as many cells to Green as possible. I have tried the base maps in their list, but it does not list Short Shots for a breakout, so I had to select the closest option Big Radius pipes with baffle. This is what customer service told me to do at Vance and hines, then run Autotune off of that map as a baseline.

I will run another tank or so through it with different types of riding and see how it all ends up.

The main thing that concerns me is that the temps is much higher, 270-300 while using the autotune and while in the baseline Big Radius map they supply it is around 240-260. The way it runs also is unpredictable as it can run strong to weak, very inconsistent. I hope to get it running consistently strong and cool, I don't want to be forced to upgrade to a 120r by blowing up my new 103 )

You will never get a "full" map. V&H says it will be "football" shaped. I have probably run over 800 miles on autotune and it looks pretty good, but really did not change a whole lot after 300 or so. Best policy is to flash the map (it does NOT make real time adjustments while in autotune, so you are actually still running the previous baseline map), then ride a little to see what you think. Then go back to autotune and select the autotune map you just flashed as your starting map. If you do not do this part, you will just keep doing the same adjustments over again.

You can call V&H and give them some info on your bike; they will pull up your map and tweak it for you based on their experience vs. your bike setup. I have not done that yet.

Oh yeah, the bike runs great. Be sure to check out the throttle lag setting. It makes a huge difference in response, especially when going into passing mode.
