Question Springer/Cross Bones Frame?

Would the seat mounting be the same on a CrossBones and a 06 Springer with a 200mm rear tire or did the frame change?

Fl and fx softails have the same frames. Is this your question?

same frames yes, swingarms are diffreent widths to accommodate different size tires and fenders ie. crosbones & newer fatboys run 200 tire & wider fender, Heritage & Delux run smaller 150/140.

I want to know if a Mustang seat pan and solo seat off of a Cross Bones will fit my Springer? Mustang says No. But I can't see why.

Not sure if this will help, just my input.....I put a FB Lo fender on my 09' NT and the CPU mounting point was a little different, which...in turn modified the "under" seat pan area, so I had to get a different seat that would work. But for the most part, I think most Softail parts from at least 06-11 are interchangable. I have floorboards from a 13 Slim on my 09 Train. Exact same mounting points.

The issue may not be with any dimension of the frame but what mounting points the seat uses and if they exist on the pre-2008 models. Since it is an aftermarket seat it is a lot harder to say unless someone can respond who has the very same seat you want to use. When discussing stock seats, they are not interchangeable...at least not without some sort of modification because the older seat bolted to the sides of the frame and newer seats bolt to the rear fender.

Swingarms across narrow tire bikes and 200mm tire bike are exactly the same width and the swingarm only changes on the Rocker and Breakout whose tires go up to 240mm. That said, swingarm width is pretty much irrelevant to a seat swap since even with the widest or narrowest of rear tires, the frame stays pretty much unchanged and that's what the seat mounts to.

If I had to guess, I would say the main fitment issue is going to do with your rear fender and the fitment of the frame pan that covers the frame and battery. On the newer bikes, sprung seats come with a pan that not only covers the frame but also covers the ECM which is mounted to the fender. In most cases, the pan bolts to the fender using the same bolt that holds the ECM mounting plate to the fender. The pans are then designed to fit width of the fender and have a certain visual flow. What IS wider on a Crossbones besides the rear tire is the fender. Thus the seat pan is probably designed with that width in mind. If you were to try and put it on an 06 Springer then it would probably overhang on the sides and also the mounting point may not match since the ECM sit slightly different on each bike.

It would be helpful if you posted a link of the seat you want and a photo of your bike...maybe with your stock seat taken off.

Good luck.

Can't post any pics at this time but the seat I wanted to install is a Mustang Cyclone. It 's coming off a CrossBones and going onto a 06 Springer with a 200 rear tire.

Looking at the mustang site; if your looking to get the Crossbones specific model then it won't fit your bike. The fender on the bones is wider and has a slightly different angle where the ECM mounts to. The ECM on the Crossbones sits a bit higher than on other Softails. Also, the Crossbones model uses a single center mount hole at the fender which fits the FX (ducktail) fender. You fender won't have this center hole.

As with many things, it could probably be "made" to fit but if you're looking for a direct bolt on the you really need to get the seat that's made for your year and model bike.
