Purchased a 2007 FXSTC Softail Custom today. Upgraded intake and pipes, otherwise pretty much stock with the mini apes and Black Cherry Pearl/Pewter Pearl two tone paint. Great seller... (Typical of a Harley owner). He is storing it until the snow clears, which can't happen soon enough.
Been without a ride for 3 years, but was time to get back on the saddle. The style of the Standards and Customs has always worked for me. Yeah, a tourer would be nice, but my riding is 30 - 50 mph for 2 or 3 hours. Cruising on this bike will be perfect.
Question... Not opposed to a little comfort. Considering a full face helmet but at the same time It has a quick detach windshield. It is a little large as big or even bigger than the one on my buddies Fat Boy. I am not sure I want a windshield, unless it really suits the bike and is effective enough to use from time to time. If any standard or Custom owners have suggestions, put them out there, thanks. Will also be looking to pop the backrest off and find a solo seat. May go LePera but hard to beat Corbin.
I had a windshield on my last bike, a Dyna. It was a HD quick release compact. May even have had a light tint. Really suited that bike.
Thanks! I've thought about the 3/4 helmets as well. Less claustrophobic. Gonna hit the dealer tomorrow and try a few. Still have my shorties til or if I find something else.
Is the windshield a HD product? I was just on the HD site and the compact I had on the Dyna was the taller one.
