Default installing heated grips

2014 Harley Davidson Heritage

Where should I connect the grips' power wire? First attempt I connected to the wire that goes to front fender marker light but the grips quit working after a few minutes. I tested them not connected to the motorcycle and they worked great. Could I connect them to the headlight wiring? The grips are Avon and draw 3 amps. If not to the headlight, other suggestions?

Thanks

i would run them straight to the battery with a relay on a switched source.

Thanks, Drew. He was trying to avoid having to remember to turn the grips off but I'll just have to think up some sort of reminder. He was also considering the tail light (I think). He discovered the headlight wouldn't work.

Not sure, but the Heritage may have an accessory plug under the seat. If not, the Slim has the DLC under the seat, one would assume the Heritage does as well. Harley has a plug kit to add an accessory using the DLC.
