i say i have done some 1000 mile rides from VA to IA trips before on the my softail and i will say that a windshield would have been great for them bugs that will be buzzing around when you ride. i would also go with those mono tubes and a shotgun and the seat is a must. need something wide and comfortable. I have a gel seat that i use for those types of trips very comfortable. i also had the shotgun shock on my softy. one of the best investments around lifetime warranty. but either way you can't go wrong. have a safe trip.

I did a 600-700 mile trip during the summer on the stock slim seat. I bought a lambskin off of Amazon and cut it to size. It help keep the swamp *** at bay. After the trip I bought a nice mustang seat and wished I'd of done it sooner. I bought this drink holder from HD and it's worth it's weight in gold. Bought a pop top insulated drink canister from Walmart and it kept liquids cold. Anything the same diameter as a coke can/bottle will fit. Just take your time enjoy the scenery.

she did have a license but when we moved to arkansas they forgot to transfer the endorsement over and she didn't realize it until it was too late. When I get home there should be enough time for her to get the endorsement back on her license.

Vacuum canisters packed with ice and the beverage of your choice will stay cold between fuel stops.

Well I priced everything and as of now it looks like I will pay just over $2600 for the parts. Those include Shotgun Shocks, Progressive Monotubes, Lindby Magnumbar, HD detachable windshield, and the old school sissy bar from Ginz Choppers. Since I am not prepared tool wise or mechanic wise for installation on the monotubes and shocks I might call a friend or have the local dealership install them. Everything else I can do.
