Default In desperate need of advice regarding my '99 FXST

How's it going guys.

I recently purchased a 1999 FXST Frame, engine, and tranny for $1650. I was very happy with this price since I could possibly hit my budget of $6K (Idk if that's unrealistic) for this bike. Basically I've been thinking about what I want to do with it and I would like a simple looking bike. If it's not necessary, I won't have it on there. I believe my engine is an 80ci Evo, I know it's an evo, not sure about the displacement.

Let me tell you guys, this is my first bike with very little knowledge about Harleys. A few questions I have are, how hard is it to really build a bike? I plan on having it ready by 4th of July weekend. I know the big pieces, fenders, tank, handlebars, seat etc. but how difficult is it to piece it all together. Specifically, the wiring and actually getting stuff on the frame.

I was hoping to get a Rolling Chassis going by the end of this month and having the engine and Tranny finished by the end of April, putting it all together by the end of May or beginning of June.

What would be a solid front end to put on it as well as a swingarm. Correct me if I'm wrong (please) but that would make up the rolling chassis, minus the wheels which I'll hopefully buy for a cheap price off of Craigslist or a swapmeet.

I've been considering punting this project and buying an FXR but I really want to build a bike from scratch that I can call my own. If I do decide to go through with this, I'll be buying a lift and one of those 263 pc tool kits from Craftsman this coming weekend.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. You really have no idea how helpful it would be. Anyways, I know my post came off as a lot of rambling, and hopefully not too annoying as I'll probably be around this forum for years, maybe decades to come. Thank you brothers and sisters.

Default lots of variables....

But the most important one is, what are your credentials when it comes to electrical and Mechanical knowledge. If your not that accustomed to this and being your first Harley, make sure you get a manual and do a lot of reading first to familiarize yourself with what your getting into...look at it as a learning curve...but one that is doable. How bad you want it..,,good luck man.....
