Well, I did it! I stayed up late Saturday night installing the tank and my 42" Super Cholo's so I could run some heat cycles today.
I woke up this morning to run and get some odds and ends before I started her up. After installing the odds and ends and the battery, I decided to give it a shot. Now, at this time I'm worried! I have been reading a thread where he can't keep his big bore build running. I turn the ignition to the right, and I hit the start button and she won't start!!!!!! After trying a couple more times, she just won't fire! After pondering for a few minutes I conclude the battery just doesn't have enough juice to start my 107" beast! The strange thing is I had the battery indoors on a battery tender and the green light on the tender was on all winter.
How anti-climatic!!
Moving to a small town in Kansas some 19 months ago, I'm learning that getting things I need on the weekends is almost impossible, unless I want to drive to Wichita.
So, I did all this work over the winter and I'm stopped dead in my tracks by a battery that just can't do it!
But, I'm not one to lie down easily! So, I back my car around to the bike, grab my cables, hook up my car, than the bike... I stand by the bike for a couple minutes thinking about all the possibilities... I say *uck it, I turn the switch to on, slowly raise my hand to the bar and push and hold the start button and..... BOOM! The 107" with TW-777 and Super Cholos came roaring to life!!!
Ok, at this time I'm grabbing my *alls and smiling! I'm mean, who wouldn't, right? I close my eyes to try and concentrate over the thundering sound coming from the rear of the bike. After about 5 mins, I open my eyes and I see smoke billowing out from the motor. I quickly assess the situation and I shut her down.
I'm assuming that the smoke is coming from residue left on the motor? I'm slightly concerned, but I'll call fuelmoto to order a PC V and see what they say about the smoke.
To all you picture ******, I will get picture up when I'm finished with the build, either late April or early May.
if you assembled it CORRECTLY with assembly lube on all moving parts, especially on the cylinder walls you will get some smoke. if you see smoke coming off the motor its self it is probably excess oil from your hands and where the assembly lube run off. i would make sure you clean the exterior of the jugs extremely well cause oil will cook and possibly damage finishes just like burning oil in a frying pan.
Smoke from the motor is never a good thing. What type of residue are you talking about? Oil on the jugs?
It could be anything from the Dawn dish soap I used to clean the jugs, oil (but didn't smell like it), the Turtle wax chrome cleaner I used on it about an hour prior to starting it.
The smoke didn't have an oil smell, plastic smell or anything I can think of. It was basically a neutral smell (for lack of a better word).

I used Amsoil Assy lube and lots of it. I thought it might be that too, but, wouldn't it leave thru the exhaust?
I'm also thinking maybe it was just running hot because of no tuner, yet? I didn't ride it, just idle and FuelMoto said that would be ok.

thin coats of oil will smoke excessively until it burns off. make sure you keep it off your pipes cause it will blue them quickly. you should wash your bike with dawn dish soap to cut threw the oil and make sure it is real clean before starting it. if it starts to smoke on the next start up try and locate the source and post back

Will do, thanks! I'm hoping to get the PC V delivered by Friday.
I polished the chrome prior to start up so it wouldn't stain it.
