Depending on manufacturer, there might be a designation at the end of the camshafts. The 'upgraded' 203's that cam with my '00 S/E Road Glide had 'SE 203' embossed right on the ends.

I will go with him to see this bike and check the normal oil, tires, crank it up, etc. Is there anything special to be concerned about on a 2001 FB? I could help him out financially, but he will not accept that (wouldn't take any money all through college either). He's a good kid and his mama and I are proud of him. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey Cocky, Glad your son got a nice bike. Based on the original Pic that you showed, thats a 2003 Fatty, unless they just picked up different tins. That is the 100 yr Anniversary, Silver & Black. Same bike I have. In any event, the bike you got looks great. Good luck with it.

Default another update

Here are some pics after we cleaned her up and checked all fluids. We will change them next week, but they are ok for now. He had a local indy check it out and all seems well. We put on a set of bars I had left over from a build back in the 90's. They look good on this bike. Something has been done to this motor because its real fast, as fast or faster than my 103. This thing lopes like a shovel, really cool. My old 04 fxdl never sounded this good. Hes ordered a sissybar from fleabay for the new bride and the indy gave him a set of rear turn signal relocation bolts for $10. I guess thats next. Only issue I can find is that someone backed the rear fender into a curb or something and chiped some paint and a small dent at the bottom edge. We will put on a chrome fender tip and call it a day on that. Any body have a rear bottom fender tip they could recommend. Especially one without holes to drill?

Nice looking bike and a decent deal. For some reason, it looks very familiar, lol.
