Default jetting question?

95 heritage 80ci evo, 1st Harley just bought it few months ago, seemed like it popped thru carb sitting at a light blippin the throttle, also barely get it above 70mph just flat, took carb bowl off had a 42 slow jet and a 165 main, I installed vance short shots and kn filter and I put in a 48 slow and 195 main, really brought it alive, but now pipes are lil darkened already inside the end of them, and I just checked mileage 3.1 gallon at 91 miles which is around 29mpg not good!, up top it will go on past 70mph now but seems boggy up there, not bogging just takes a while to go on past?im thinking maybe the 195 main is too much? possibly the even the 48 slow too much?

Just wanted to add, jetting depends on your motor mods Stock would be the jets I suggested above. Also, you may have to shim .030 under the stock needle. Good luck with that.

glw...it's been years since I re-jetted a carb or dialed one in. Try posting your questions to the link below. There's someone in there who does these things on a daily basis not to mention knowledgeable with todays market and tech tricks, GL with your project.

I'd start with 45/180 with a couple of turns out on the mixture screw. I have had pretty good luck tuning my evos with this as a starting point.
