Default Changing Pipes

Already have the stage I download/air flow/and SE II slip-ons.....I want to change to Big radius pipes. Do I need a new Download or can I go with what I already have?

That all depends on what you are after. If you want maximum power, a download or a tuning device will be necessary, but if you jsut want LOUD you should be okay. I had the stage I download when I got my bike (2002 Softail, bought used) and all was fine. Occasional popping, but nothing obnoxious. When I changed to vance and hines pipes from the other aftermarket pipes that were on there I had a bit more power, and the same slight popping. After that I got a pcIII and my power went seemingly through the roof from where it was. I am yet to get a dyno tune or anything but would like to someday. On the newer bikes people also say that getting a pcIII or a SERT will cool down the engine a lot. It is hard to say what to do. I'd say get the pipes and go from there.

Yeah, I'm not the biggest on getting everything out of the bike I can. I just want to get comperable performance and not hurt the motor. I can go for the PCIII or whatever some other time. I just want to slide these things on in the garage and go for a ride.

You must have missed all my posts the last week.Tomorrow I am putting the Big Radius pipes on my 2007 Fat Boy. My mechanic says I need nothing but a K/N air cleaner. I want to try it out. I probably will go to a Sert or PCIII but want to try it first to see if it is neccessary to do a fuel management system and mapping. Keepin touch the next few days. What kind of bike do you have? I have only had my Fat BoY 4 weeks and already taking my SE slip ons off.lol
