Looking for opinions, I own a '12 Wide glide which I love and have made mine but I have gotten the itch for a fat boy lo. My style of riding is more of cruising so the twisties and cutting corners isnt my thing. Ive never ridden a softail so dont know how different the ride will be and have also been told that the floorboards would/will scrape. Anyway has anybody gone from Dyna to a Softail (fatboy lo) and have any knowledge? Thanks
B motors are like glass at idle. They do start to vibrate more higher in the rev range, but that's not a major concern for cruisers. Whenever I jump on a softail, I drag a floorboard within the first mile, typically before I'm out of the parking lot. With the FB Lo, it's even more apparent how low it is... That said, they are great bikes! Very comfortable, and that 103 is a strong motor. Great combo.
I went from an 05 Lowrider to a 13 slim big difference, the new 103s do throw off more heat then the 88s. I went to a slim as I am vertically challenged, the low seat height and floorboards! sold me on the slim.
I was tossed between the slim and FB lo I thought the slim a little more agile, as I did demo both. I do miss my dyna but the slim fit me perfect my dyna was lowered, and had a custom seat, on long rides I could not get comfortable between mids and highway pegs,
If you can do a demo ride or rent a softail for a day to see what your likes and dislikes are.
