Default Question Concerning Forward Controls.

Hey Gang,

If you have a late model Softail with forward controls, I need your help.

I am switching out my stock floorboard set-up with Harley's forward controls. I got the kit off eBay. It is new and uninstalled and I assumed that every component was present when I compared the contents to the parts list.

I've installed the brackets but only mocked up the rest because I am planning to powder coat all the chrome bits gloss black. When I installed the shift lever and gear shift arm into the mounting bracket I noticed that there is a fair amount of play in the set up. Even when I pushed the shift lever all the way onto the shaft of the gear shift arm there was still a gap of about 1/4 inch between the shift lever and the mounting bracket hole. My assumption is that there should be some sort of spacer that goes on the shaft of the gear shift arm that goes either on the inboard or outboard side of the bracket hole but I have found no such component in my kit nor do I see anything like it listed on the parts list.

Can any of you with forwards please take a look at your shift side and tell me if there is some sort of spacer, either between the shift lever and the bracket hole or between the shift arm and the bracket hole? In the meantime I am going to dig out my stock floorboard set up to see if it had something along those lines.

Thanks,

Skeez
