Default Help with Ignition Timing

Hi guys,

I do not speak english very well, but I 'll try to explain my problem. I try to adjust my timing on my Softail 1987. I reinstal the ignition modul and I look in the inspection hole. I put the vertical line in the middle. I don't now if its good procedure. After I have a timing lamp but I know what to do. Is it any one who can help me.

Thanks
