So ive decided im going back to a Softail as many of you all know already... Right now im leaning toward the Slim because i like the old school platform and footboards,.. Only thing is id like to fatten up the rear even just a tiny bit to fill the fender. Ive heard you can install a 150mm tire on the stock rim no problem and it looks better. So once the stock tire wears down problem fixed.. The other bike that has my eye is the Breakout.. I love the look and style as well for totaly different reasons. Reminds me of my 09 Nighttrain but on steroids and chrome.. I dislike foot pegs compared to footboards tho and the Breakout is $3k more expensive! So my question is anybody have experiance with both? Which is the best for 2 up? ovbiously after the Slim gets a 2 up seat.. Which one handles and rides better? Many people even salesmen at 2 different dealerships said the Slim is an amazing handling bike much better then the Breakout.. As far as test riding the 2 i found out many times going for a quick run at the Harley dealer only tells you so much you actually have to ride the bike for weeks to determine how well it handles and if you like it or not.. That why im asking on here for people thats has experience on both.. This is actually a tough call for me being that i like both for 2 totally different reasons and style.. Its like modern muscle vs old school..
Rode em both. Slim outperforms the BO in every conceivable way! Unless you are looking for a bike to park and look at how cool it looks, (which I still think the Slim is the cooler looking bike) buy the Slim.

have to say the Breakout looks much cooler than the slim! ...not rode the slim and only done about 50 miles on the BO, so what do i know lol
Its crazy that i even like both about the same.. There 2 totally different bikes.. I do feel as tho the Slim is a better platform to make it what you want and has way more room for customizing.. The Breakout is what it is and theres not a whole lot you can change besides maybe apes and a few small things.. Breakout kinda reminds me of the Victory Vegas when it was out.. It is what it is a modern Muscle bike thats hard to really make unique.. Not bashing it cause i love it im just saying.. Theres so many Custom Slims out there and they all look very different from the next.. So its deff a better blank canvas.. Its really a tough call.
So far at 500 miles, I'm loving my 3 week old breakout. I've never ridden a slim, but can say the breakout is a tad less nimble in tight turning areas compared to my old 2005 fxdl which I believe had a 160 in the rear. also downside of the breakout is the need to modify those bars almost immediately. I'm fine with that because even my fxdl didn't really look like one when I was done. Really comes down to style. I like the big rear tire and don't care for floor boards.
Having ridden neither of them, I'm going off looks. But I wouldn't even sit on a slim, hideous bike. To me the break out has some chopper influences yet its still a very rideable bike, but every time I see this one guy around town on one he looks like he's hurting and I see a guy on a slim who looks more comfortable. Just gotta ride them and pick why you like.

IMO and I have never ridden either, the Slim is cooler and with a few changes can be a very cool looking bike if "old school" is what you're after.
I do have an 03 FatBoy which is close to the Slim and to this day it is my favorite Harley ever, never parting with it.
The BO is also cool in its own way but its definitely not "old school". So based on that style alone being what I like most, I'd go with the Slim.
The poll needs a third option for "both". That's why I have 2 softails. I would get the slim and make it into a vintage bobber and I would get the BO and convert it into a wicked pro street chopper with a Harley 120r crate motor. I would have a solo seat and a two up seat for both.

Trust me i wish.. Id love both but thats not an option for me its one or the other.. So no 3rd option.
