I'm a fan of Captain Itch also...... I just almost purchased one for my Fatboy. It would have gone perfect on that bike. but I traded up for the Ultra that already has the factory shields.
I have asked if the Captain Itch were better than the plastic shields and provided more protection, but I never had any conformation

I had the Kury shields on mine for about 3 yrs until they cracked. Still burnt my right thigh esp in traffic. The Crotch Cooler is a serious piece of quality leather and works well as a heat barrier
I have Wards fans also. It does what I need it to do.....keep my heads cooler. I ride around the city without a worry of high head temps...and I know because I have it showing on my PowerVision. I also like the look of them as they are not too big to cover the cylinders.
That's why fan failures are an ongoing problem for these competing engine cooling units. We know that is a fact based on countless emails we receive from owners of competing brands. that are now switching over to Love Jugs.
This is your assumption based on anecdotal reports.... not even close to the same as facts..
That is why we don't experience our competitors problems regarding catastrophic frame failures due to severe vibration. Aluminum is prone to failure when exposed to severe vibration, metal fatigue is unavoidable under these conditions. Sooner or later, Aluminum will simply "Give Up" and break. It's unavoidable.
Sure would like to see your testing to back this claim up as it pertains to this specific use of aluminum frames......
Please don't view my response as an attempt at a cheap sales pitch
No... sure seems more like a cheap shot
Whenever someone needs to bash the competition to make their product look good, I immediately suspect that their product is lacking on its own merits.
You would do better to tout the advantages of your product without unsubstantiated claims (No, second hand stories aren't facts!) about your competition....

Sorry...I wouldn't put those fugly things on my bike if my thighs were catching fire (which they don't). With that kind of coin and a clue, you can make the modifications necessary for your motor to run cooler without oil coolers, crotch coolers and other bolt-on nonsense. Beyond that, if ya can't handle the heat, don't buy a harley (or any other air-cooled bike)...
+1 Wards FCS, Look much better. ET measured by PV 235-250* in hot summer traffic.
As soon as you take em outta the box you can see/feel how solidly well built they are.
Just my anecdotal evidence. The sheer number of satisfied Wards fans (pun) on HDF is staggering and growing all the time. I've had mine about 2-1/2 or 3 years now.
Why are you changing to a more ruggedized fan? Are there problems with the fans you are currently using? Please provide data sheets for your current fans and upgraded fans so we can see the improvements of your change. I own a set of your fans and there is not manufacturing information on the fan that allows me to verify its origin, lot number or any other information that lets me know that the fan that I purchased is indeed the correct fan. How do you know that you are not being sold counterfeit fans? How do I know that I am getting what I paid for?
Thanks,
Ted

Hey man I am ears for any ideas for cooling the bike. You're right it's not bad for me except when sitting in stop and go traffic. More importantly I want to take care of the motor. I am planning on a stage I kit with true duals to help breathing with hopes of a side benefit of cooling.
