Default Detailing or Riding

I'm curious as to how many of you spend more time detailing your scoot in regards to riding it?

I know a few of you have done builds for show, I'm talking about the other guys/gals.

I didn't post this to poke at anyone, just saying I'd like to see a few photos of after your road trips before you clean it up...lol

I've washed my Heritage twice since getting it last August. Only 10 mos. I know I have to wash her, but when I get started I rush through doing a half azz job so I can go for a ride.

I really need to detail her up though...

No one sees my bike with so much as dust or a single bug on it.

A complete detail on my bike is an 8 hour job.

I didn't get my Heritage to put on display as a show piece I got her to ride.

I've always believed that a clean machine is a good running machine.
The thought in that is that if one is going to put time in keeping a machine clean they are going to put time in to keeping it running well.

I detail my Heritage probably 6-8 times a year and take 2-3 hours doing it.
I find it somewhat relaxing and after it's detailed satisfying.

When do I detail it? Whenever it needs it.

One bike stays ridiculously detailed, the other gets ridden more and is not so meticulously maintained from an appearance standpoint....I would consider myself a bit different though; I actually find cleaning and detailing fun/relaxing/stress relieving. When the old lady has me worked up or when I am feeling a bit stressed from work or whatever you can usually find me in my garage with a bike on the lift and me polishing or cleaning something...

Don't spend as much time keeping her as clean as I should, but 60+ hour work weeks, maintaining two houses and taking care of life's responsibilities eats up a lot of my time. So when I have to choose between cleaning and riding, riding usually wins.

I think this is a false choice. Takes about a half hour to do a good wash, a couple of hours for a detail.
You telling me you never are watching TV or hanging out at a bar, when you could be washing your bike?

I wash my bike when it's full of bugs or dirt. That could be every few days, or every few weeks. End of season, I detail it.

Admit it, you guys with dirty bikes are just lazy, or are in your twenties with a hot girlfriend.

I wash the bike a few times per year, and I never take over 20 minutes doing it.

I wish there was a such thing as an automatic motorcycle wash like they have for cars, I would take it there...

I detail the bike whenever it needs it.

So far it hasn`t needed it, but I`ve only had it 26 years...

I spend enough time in the garage with the bikes doing all my own mechanical work.

When my bikes start getting "gamey" I wash them...usually 2-3 times a summer works. I'm not all for the "my bike must look pristine" crowd...it's a vehicle and meant to ride + get dirty.
