What if you're taking the wheels off?

Well yeah obviously, but for the purpose of the OP's question this is no different than the floor jack, does he need to avoid the shocks and if so how?

Go to automart and get a foot or so of large heater hose, thats thick and cut 2 peices 8 inches or so and then split them down the middle ( I actually cut out a 1/4 inch strip). Slide them onto the frame, at the rear, and their thickness will allow the jack to pad to rest on the rubber tubing and not the shocks. Dont forget to remove them when done, I forgot once and rode around with them on, but they didnt fall off. Go figure. Same as principle as the HD pads but way cheaper.
