Default Squeaking Baffles

Is there something I can wrap the baffles with that will snug up the fit in the pipes?

Just installed LA Choppers 187 exhaust on my Fat Boy, and there's a terrible squeak/chirp coming from loose fitting baffles. I've tightened them up as much as I can, but the noise is still there. I removed them both, and the noise is gone. I prefer to keep baffles in so the sound isn't obnoxious.

Wrap em with exhaust fiberglass packing. That will probably quiet them down more, however. But should stop the rattling. J&P cycles among other places.

Since the ends of the baffles can be the only contact points against the pipes, is it necessary to wrap the entire baffle and lose sound? I'd like to somehow wrap the largest diameter areas (ends) only, so sound isn't affected. Would some sort of silicone tape or even fiberglass exhaust wrap work?

Just finished wrapping the baffles with fiberglass packing. The squeak/chirp is gone, but the bike now sounds like a sewing machine. Not gonna work for me, unfortunately. I'll go no baffles, annoy neighbors, and lose back pressure before I allow the Harley to sound like a stock Yamaha V-Star 650.

Maybe I can wrap the baffle with about an inch width piece of packing? Let the trial and error begin...

Had the same problem with quiet baffles in my V&H Longshots. What I did was take a vice grip and bend (or flare) the end of the baffle to sort of mushroom the baffle. By doing this the baffle fits tighter in the pipe. It takes a little trial and error but it works.

Is it necessary to do this with both ends of each baffle?

I contacted LA Choppers technical support, and their suggestion was to live with the sound until the baffles carbon up and it goes away on it's own.

I just crimped the end furthest from mounting screw. You would probably have to wait along time for carbon to build up.
