Fatboy seat strap question

Hi all.....new member, and new Harley owner here. My question is, on my 2002 Fatboy there is a strap between the seat and the rear pillion....do I need to keep this strap on? I dont like the look of it, and would like to eliminate it if possible. Thanks.

It's useless, dump it. Two bolts on the strut hold it, you can even dish the spacers.

Look at 99% of the bikes on here and you won't see one on the bikes. Besides you don't want to take a chance of a pretty rider grabbing onto and holding that instead of you.
