Default 94 Softail ===> project "Dark Star"

Hey everone,

so i bought myself a 94 Softail custom. and started poking around.

This is what it looked like the day I got it.

I dont like the current look of the bike, not quite sure of how i want it to be either. Will be making some small changes and see how it goes on.

First up is the seat. I did not like the tanned look of the leather so I decided to go to work with some leather die.

here is the difference

so far im quite happy with the outcome. the second step was some black polish and finally some leather food.

Nice job on the seat. Kind of an unusual swing arm for a Softail. What is it?

hey Hey Man,

I did a little research, It is called a drag style swing arm that allows for lager rear Tyre fitment as well as more space for battery in front of rear wheel....

here is a link for reference.

Last night i continued on the wiring, marking and tracing every wire and i believe I am at least 75% done with the mapping. Should be able to complete the diagram tonight and completely remove the wiring harness so that I can start making the new one.

Here are some pictures of the current state of the wiring.

I have never seen wiring in such a state of distress. I went out to get some new wires to rebuild the entire harness.

and the wiring diagram that is not up to any standard.

looks like hell but at least i have some idea of wat is going on here...

Found the correct place for my sliver boxes... not just randomly squished in between the tanks as it was.

update time....

Wiring is going well, almost finished with my harness. I believe it is only the indicators that need to be wired in. My relays are mounted and the amount of visible wires is a lot less.

The relays in position.

I have also started sanding down the tanks and fenders and found that the tanks have had several layers of paint through the years.

Then I did the rear fender and gave it a slight chop.

I decided to keep the steel look, just going to polish the metal up a bit, apply my decals and give it some clear coat. Here are the decals i made that will be going on the bike.
