My buddy has 2013 fatboy he just had it serviced at a local Indy. The mechanic never put the trans dipstick back in. Well it was there just sitting there not screwed in at all. Going over his bike I noticed this. I checked the fluid level and its was barely showing any fluid just the very tip of the dip stick had a tiny tiny bit of fluid on it. Now his check engine light is on.
Will low trans fluid cause a check engine light? I'm meeting him after work to pull the code. Just asking in advance. Thanks
I don't think the transmission fluid is served through any kind of pump that the pressure could be monitored so a low condition shouldn't cause a Check Engine Light. He needs to see if there are any diagnostic codes that would indicate the issue.
After that rather then he mess with it, take it back to the Mechanic and tell him the story.
I wouldn't do jack other than insist the dealer pick it up immediately and make it right.
I would not have added any fluid, nada, I'd been madder than hell.
