I installed the rigid s/b on my 05 softtail deluxe,HD Part # 53015-05B.They close and lock but there is agap big enough to let rain in.Does anyone else have this problem, is there a fix?
(add a washeron mounting bolt, turn lock)
I hate to admit it but what I did is wind duct tape around the ring that the lock attaches to. I cut the tape the exact width of the ring and wrapped enough around it until it pulled the bag closed and actually overlapped by one half inch. I looks and sounds stupid but it works perfectlys and has held up for months with the bags stuffed full.
Also you will need to put some silocone in the lock to make it operate properly as it wears in.
I do believe there is a fix for those bags at harley but I don't have the number.
It is my intention to do the trade at some point and buy Boss bags that will hold twice what the Harley hard bags hold. But you will have to repace your stock pipes with aftermarket pipes that attach to the lower frame rail. Such as Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered or something similar.
