Default slim vs heritage

Considering a slim, heritage, or road king next

Posting here to get opinion on slim vs heritage

I am interested in opinions on the ride quality comparison of the two bikes. The bike will be for cruising around town and back roads. I ride one or two days a week for about an hour at a time. I have a dyna street bob today and want something more comfortable.

Love the look of the slim, kinda raw like my bob. Heritage I would want to take everything off but think that is a very timeless look. I obviously don't want to trade my current ride and be less comfortable so this is more about comfort than looks.

Thanks

Why Would you spend the Extra money for a heritage if you are just going to take it off. just get the slim and spend the extra money on a shotgun shock and some bling to make it your own. That is my opinion. The shock will make you want to ride longer than a hour.

I have only ridden Heritage so can't really give a comparison. If one of the others is a 5 speed I would probably go that direction for around town... Heritage rides good for me

This! The heritage is the only softail that's a bagger and why would you be considering motorcycles with bags if you want something stripped down. Doesn't make sense to me.

I'd kinda agree with Stang but I like having the bags on around town.
It gives me a place to put rain gear, beer, or whatever else I need.

As for suspension; if you go with the Heritage unless you want to slam the bike at will I'd go with Progressive 422 RAPs. They are more that half the cost and from what I've read I'm not sure that Shock Gun shocks provides any more ride enhancement.

If you go with the Slim, shotgun shocks are probably the best option due to you are going to want to slam it from time to time.

The reason considering the heritage even though I don't like the studded bags is fitment. I think the seat and handlebars are great.

I don't have any experience with the Slim but went to a dealer to buy one. I ended up leaving with a used Heritage with 3000 miles on it for a few thousand less. I'm in the process of "Deluxifying" the Heritage for around town. I bought a used Deluxe passengers seat, detachable backrest hardware, and beach bars are in the mail. I wanted something I could strip down (May put QD saddle bag mounts, haven't decided) to do bike nights and cruise around town, but still be practical for long trips. I can tell you the ride quality on the heritage is very nice. My last bike was a Victory Cross Country (Bags and air suspension) and rode fantastic but I don't feel like the Heritage is that bad compared to it. I'd say the suspension doesn't like big hits like the baggers do, but not uncomfortable at all. I can do 2 hours before my butt needs a break which is longer than any other bikes I've had. The heritage seat is very comfortable!

If I was not riding two up I absolutely would have bought a slim and threw on a QD windshield and bags, I love the stripped down look, then again I love the classic look of the Heritage too.

Then I would suggest getting the slim and adding mini apes and a heritage/after market seat. The heritage stock is set up for touring and cruising and is a bargain if that is what you are looking to do. If you want something stripped down then both the heritage and the road king are poor choices. Good luck

I'm with tailsfrommycrib, get the Slim and do add ons. I wanted a Deluxe but went with a Heritage thinking of the get price with the bags and windshield, but in hindsight, I change the bags and added true duals anyway. Now I'm trying to Deluxeify my ride by adding the bullet style rear turn signal bar and handlebars.

If your going to strip a heritage, get a deluxe. Look for a used garage queen.
