I got run off the road on yesterday because some kids were going too fast for the curve in a freakin Civic westbound and were sliding into my eastbound lane. Needless to say, I pulled over to the right as far as I could for fear of a head-on but I couldn't bring the bike back into the center of the lane from the shoulder thanks to the curve and some sand- so down I went.
Thank goodness for my engine guard, which is now bent and twisted. If you don't have one, get one.
Have to replace some parts like my clutch handle which was partially snapped off, the teardrop Willie G. Skull mirrors my wife bought me back in 2007, the engine guard which hot bnt ad a little twisted, and a rear turn signal. I thought I still had my stock mirrors, but apparently I don't. I can't ride without mirrors, and nobody seems to have the H-D Classic Teardrop mirrors in stock and the wait is about a week. I can't believe I am saying this, but thank goodnessit's hoping to start raining again so I won't miss being able to ride while waiting for my parts to arrive- sorry guys.
I could go buy a set of stock mirrors but they are only about $30 less than those classic teardrops, and now I'm looking to see what else might look good since I am leaning toward the nostalgic look. Can anyone think of any other cool nostalgic mirrors I should be looking at?
Thanks guys.
Yeah, about $400 in damages, but bike will be mostly fixed tomorrow night after UPS delivers, and then totally Friday after I get mirrors. I was able to bend the footboard back into shape, so I didn't have to replace it, and I bought chrome levers because Imwas not going to spend $40 for a cheap ugly grey clutch lever when I could get a new set of chrome ones for $100.
Luckily, I didn't freak when I went down. I could tell I was going to be okay as it was happening, I knew I was tougher than that mailbox post. Stupid as it might be to say, I usually wear an aerated leather jacket when I ride this time of year, but I was only wearing a long sleeve shirt- so I didn't get ny jacket destroyed. Yeah, I'm just looking a the money with that statement, but where do you find the "Cheap Riding Jackets You Don't Care About Destroying Store?" Maybe I'll get a denim jacket, my Levi's stood up to the slide. Nevertheless, I should have at least been wearing gloves because the torn skin on your knuckles take a long time to heel with all the bending we do.

Glad you are ok!
Bike can be fixed or replaced.
I got to spend 5 fun filled days in 2 different Montana hospitals last year when I totaled my Street Bob. Glad I was fully decked out in leather or it could have been worse. $15,000 dollars damage to bike. I am thankful I am above ground every day!
