Have any overheating or mechanical issues with your 2007?
Thanks!
Early bikes were the worst to be complained about.
I think a download cures all the running hot nonsense anyways so if you intend to Stage 1 it then it won't matter anyways.
I negotiated a pretty good deal on 2 different 2007 FXSTC's. One is an early build and one was built after November. My only concern is everything I hear and read concerning overheating and oil temperature issues. I ride a fair amount. at least 10,000 miles a year in all types of traffic conditions. I intend on keeping the bike I buy for at least 5 years so I'm looking at putting on 50,000 plus miles. How many of you have experienced any problems and to what extent?
Thanks!
It did run fairly hot until they downloaded the 'cure' and its been purring like a kitten ever since.
Its only got a little over 2100 miles on it as of today but other than that I haven't found any flaws in it.
BTW the 'cure' download became a standard loading on all bike's built after late October or early November and dealers are supposed to install it on any of the earlier bike's they may have in stock 'before' they are allowed to sell them. And using Synthetic oil has lowered mine even more. Its almost hard to get it up to 190 while cruising at anytheng over 35 or 40mph.
The only other problems that have been 'reported' is the Positive battery terminal or cable shorting out on the upper edge of theoil tank. This has resulted in at least three bikes almost if not actually trying to burn to the ground when the oil lines cooked from the entire battery output trying to gothrough them. But its easily fixed if you know what to look for.
The last'problem' that I am aware of is one or two cases of the tranny dip stick breaking off and locking up everything from the engine back. Like I said as far as I am aware of its onlyhappened a couple of times. So I'm not really sure it can truely be called a'problem'. If it only happens a couple of times its more likebad luck. But if it bothers you, there's no rule that says you have to have a dip stick. You can always cut it off after you measure the level so you can fabricate a piece of metal to use for one and keep it in yourtool boxto use when you want tocheck it.
Overall I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get 50,000 miles out of one. As long as you don't beat the snot out of it constantly and change the oil and filters regularly, there's no reasonit wouldn't last at least that long.
