I put a detachable king size windsheld 58240-95 on my 06 fatboy late last year. When riding below 50 MPH I love it. Above that I get horrible buffeting that causes my glasses to shake. I am 6'-0" and wear a 3/4 helmet with face shield. I have the optional seat with rider back rest 51560-00A that puts me a little forward of the stock seat. When seated comfortly I am looking just over the top of the shield.
Anyone have any suggestions to cure the buffeting?
Agreed. Most of the buffeting is caused by air coming from under the windshield. I put those chrome deflectors on mine. They did all but eleminate the buffeting. The trade off however is the heat. You get more heat off the motor. Equal trade off??? Hard to say. I took them off today. I will leave those for cooler weather. It takes 5 min tops to remove/install them.
Yep..the chrome wind deflectors will solve your problem. I had bad buffeting at speed and the deflectors took it away. I don't notice any extra heat from the deflectors, but I am old enough to have an insensitive crotch...

My solution (and my problem) as well. Some don't care for the look of the deflectors. But in addition to eliminating buffeting, they also shield your legs from rocks and bugs, as well as light rain. I too have never noticed any extra heat.
And, wonder of wonders, they're relatively cheap, and you can put them on yourself in a couple of minutes.
I had the same problem with a Harley Windshield for my Softail, I solved the problem with a sport sheild from Memphi Shades. There plasticistwice as thick as the Harley one. As much as I wanted to have a Harley windsheid on my new bike it just did not work out. They also offer replacements for Harley plastic.
I have the wind deflectors on my Heritage Classic and they do work. Also, try riding without your faceshieldon your 3/4 helmet. Wind could be getting under that and moving your head around. I have a 3/4 helmet with the faceshield and I noticed a difference when I rode without the faceshield. I will use the faceshield if it's going to be a cold or a rainy ride.
