Gonna bring this up with my dealer, I have the same problem. I brought it in for service and they said they addressed it...but its doing it still after a long ride. Kinda scary when you go to downshift and nothing happens, especially in a turn.

Is the shifter getting stuck in the up or down position. Mine was sticking all the time. I kept taking the levers off and cleaning and regreasing the shaft that the shifter levers pivot on. This would work temporarily then start sticking again. Someone on this forum suggested using never seize on the shaft. No problems for over a year!!!

I would also suggest getting better shift linkage; the stock linkage sucks. They are expensive, but have ball joints on each end so they shift much smoother.

Well here is what I can tell you. Mine stick sometimes upshifting (mostly only from 2nd-3rd.) When I go to pull into 3rd it feels like it shifts but it really stays in 2nd.I can feel with my toe thatthe shifter is pretty high up and if Irun the RPMs up PRetttttyyyyy far you feel the shifter start to falldown to my toe then I can shift. As far as downshifting that is pretty regular when I'm in the saddle for awhile. I can go to downshift (but it wont) and then use the outer sole of my boot topull back UP on the shifter slightly...but not upshifting, and then try todownshift again and it will usually go. I hopeyou guys understand that, kinda confused myself!!

I've got a 2006 fxst with 1600 miles on it and I just started having this problem. On the last couple of rides I've noticed that it doesn't want to downshift from 2nd to 1st. When downshifting from 2nd to 1st it will go into neutral but the neutral light is not on. This just started so I'm not sure what is wrong. My problem is that the dealer is a 2 hour ride away in Seoul.

Glen1978, I have the same thing happening to me on my 07 FXST with only 500 miles. BUT, it only happens to me during the first 10 miles or so of riding. It FEELS like I'm shifting into 3rd, but when I release the clutch nothing happens, I'm still stuck in 2nd. I have to kick the shifter around a couple of times before I can get it to pop into 3rd. I'm going to the Stealer this afternoon for them to check on it...

Glen1978, the Stealer didn't do jack about my tranny. They examined the clutch thinking it needed an adjustment but said it was fine. And of course the problem didn't happen during the tech's test drive of my bike. But I kid you not, on the way home, 10 miles from the shop the stupid thing did it again!

If you find a solution (or even a cause) drop me a line and let me know.

If you still have the owners manual, the clutch adjustment spec's should be in it along with instructions on how to do it.
