Default Daymaker high beam out

I have the original Daymaker LED 5 3/4 headlight. This is my 3rd season with it and now my high beam is out. I know there have been many issues with this headlight, and maybe there hasn't been enough time to assess if the new one lives longer. Either way, $450 for a light that lasts less than 3 years is ridiculous. For those who have had to replace theirs, were you able to get any help out of HD even if it was out of warranty? Did you go back to Halogen or get the newer teddy bear style as a replacement?

I've got the 7" original Daymaker for my Fatboy Lo & the high beam became jittery after 2 seasons. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Like you I was pissed that I spent so much coin & it started crapping out. Dealer tested it found no faults and I ruled out electrical short on the bike. Out of luck on the warranty since it was past a year. That being said, I still would replace it with version 2 (model 8700 evolution 2) & I've seen the non HD branded JW speaker version for way less than at the dealer. The manufacturer website has a great video comparing the original we have & the new version. Chalk it up to experience and hopefully they got the bugs out of system.

He has the 5.75" light, so the 8700 won't fit. I got one for my Slim for around $260 shipped off of Amazon a week ago, and it's a huge improvement.

To the OP, Speaker does make a 5.75" light, but whether it is suitable for you, or how it compares to the 8700/Daymaker lights, I cannot say.

For what it's worth:

JW Speaker makes the Daymaker for Harley. That being said, Speaker's 5.75" light has extra wiring for Daytime running Light (DRL) and another lighting scheme.

Why compromise your lighting with a 5.75" light, when you can simply replace the headlight bucket with a 7" bucket and upgrade to the Speaker Evo 2 LED headlight for less than you can get the Daymaker?

Thanks for the idea, but a 7" lamp wouldn't look right on my bike, IMO.

The high worked again for a sec, but then out again. Probably just going to have to bite the bullet and get a new one.

3rd season and it took a dump, that would suk.
I opted for the Phase 7 for quite a bit less than the daymaker, I do hope it lasts longer than the 3 year warranty.

I would go back to a halogen setup instead of spending $450 on something that lasts only 3 years.

I want a DM for my bike but I can't convince "someone" else. So, I'm stuck with the stock light. Still, $400 is a lot for a headlight...LED or not. I had one on my old bike and should have kept it. Hindsight sucks.
