I finally switched out the handlebars on my FLSTI from stock to a set of Deluxe bars & risers. The new bars put my hands in a more square position and the risers are pulled back enough to let me sit more upright and back. The stock bars were hurting my hands from the wrist position, and I felt too leaned forward. I've only put about 25 miles on since the change, but we'll see how they are in the long run.
Old bars (I forgot to take the "before" pic until after I started)
I can understand your reason for wanting to switch out the bars. My boss has a fat boy and I noticed how his hand would be placed more like a beach bar, wrists curled a bit. I'm not sure how it feels, but I think after a longer ride it would make my wrists sore.
My wife has a deluxe. Her bikeputs your hand in a comfortable position, more straight than the fat boy bars.
I like the fit/feel of the deluxe setup.
I did notice in the picture that you had the clutch cable come up BEHIND the bars. You may want to take the time to put it in front of the bars so that it won't interfere with the steering stops or scratching your paint. (just my $.02)

Thanks. I noticed today that the risers are just a hair off, so my handlebars aren't as straight as they should be. I'll fix the clutch cable when I reposition the risers.
