I wear my full face a lot, but it's too hot at times. Mine is a cheaper HJC, if I were going to wear all the time I would have spent more money on a high end one with lots of venting.

You don't need to spend a lot. You can get a pretty nice HJC FF with adjustable vents, removable pads and liners that can go through the washing machine, a fog-free insert for the face shield, both Snell and DOT approved, for about 120 bucks.

I only wear a full face helmet. I have a Rf 1100 Shoei . I don't ask what others think about it is my choice.

Default Helmet question.

I have a DOT half (Daytona) and a GMax modular. I bought the modular online, and regret it after the fact. It felt OK when I got it, but after breaking in, it is clearly a size too big - which may cause some of my other issues with it. I get bad helmet vibration from the turbulent airflow coming up from under my windshield. Peripheral vision is compromised, too some degree, when doing shoulder checks (maybe not to a point that it will impact safety, but I can definitely look back father with the half. No impact on peripheral vision when looking ahead). It's noisy - muffles exhaust and traffic sounds, but gets a wind tunnel effect instead.

My point with all this, is don't cheap out on a full face - I only wear mine in the cold or rain now. I'd also recommend trying one on before you buy. Make sure it's SNUG, maybe nearly to the point of discomfort, when it's new. I'm currently kind of shopping around for a new one, and do far the leader of the pack is the HJC RPHA Max. Problem for me is few shops around me stock anything but base cheap helmets, so hard to try them on.

Good luck.

I usually wear my Licks 3/4 as I find it much more comfortable than a 1/2. When I do a FF I have a Hawk modular with Bluetooth. I can stream music through it and even take phone calls, although I rarely do either. Pairing with my phone for directions though is handy.

I suggest don't go cheap. I wear a shoei but I tried on an arai the other day and the fit was incredible. The other brands don't seem to fit well. And as far as the half helmet. After I put on the goggles and face mask/bandana it's not as comfortable as my full face.

Riding locally, I wear a half helmet. If I'm going to put a lot of miles on her, I wear a Shoei full face. It's well ventilated and very comfortable. After a long day, you really can appreciate wearing one.

I also have a Shoei (RF-1100). I didn't get it due to the price or name. It was actually one of the few that fit me the best. My suggestion would be to go try a few different brands on. I found a lot of manufactures fit my head differently. I think my wife ended up with a HJC helmet.

Well I'm too badass to wear a helmet (particularly a full-face), wear a jacket, carry insurance, have locking ignition and forks, have a front brake, have the headlamp on during the daytime, check tire pressures regularly, and not lane-split at 50 mph over the traffic speed. And I don't care about what my wife and kids need to deal with if I die tomorrow, or leave them needing to change my diapers for the next 20 years if I get a major head injury, but fail to die right away.

Goldangit, I'm a real man!

I have used an HJC CL-Max modular helmet for years and put it to the test in March when a lane-changing SUV
took me out at 60 mph totaling the bike and shattering my left leg. I'm recovering, OK, but the helmet
took a beating as I slid and rolled about 130 feet on the asphalt.

This is a lower end helmet I bought after my Scorpion's face shield mechanism failed twice. It did what it was
supposed to do, but I'll be moving up to a Shoei or similar once I start riding again. I figure I'm ugly enough as
it is without having my face ground off..
