Default Sundowner Seat

I'm currently using a Mustang solo seat on my Deluxe but not really happy with it. I feel like I am sitting on the seat rather than in it. I am looking at the H-D Sundowner seat. Before dropping a few more bills to "try" another seat I am wondering if anyone is using this seat and how you like it.

I have one on my deuce. It's butt ugly, but it's functional. I've taken a lot of long rides with it, much better than stock. It has a nice wide passenger seat also. I think it may have moved me up and forward about an inch- I'm 6'3"- don't really need to be moved up, but nonetheless the riding comfort is much better than the stock seat.

I've got one also. Soft and comfortable.
Totally butt ugly like Jeff said..
If you want it, I'll sell it to you for $175.00 + shipping.
I used it once for about 15 minutes.

The stock seat on my '05 anniversery FatBoy looks like it came out of a spray can. It's great for anything under 200 miles. Anything more than that I put the Sundowner on. It's real comfortable and helps keep peace with the wife.

Thanks for the feedback, I may just head down to my local dealer and see how ugly this can me. I may not be able to get past the looks.

I added the sundowner to my Deluxe some time ago. It has extended the riding time quite a bit. I now can stick it out for a tankfull of gas before stopping. Before my butt would get so sore on the stock seat that I had to stop often to walk around the bike to get the circulation going again.

I tried adding a gel pad and a large kidney belt, but the problem with the stock seat is that there is no lower back support. The sundowner gives you this support andmakes it easier to get your legs down straight at a stop since the front tongue of the seat is narrower!

Plus the costof the sundowner is much less than a Corbin or Mustang aftermarket seat. Dealer price is about $300 and you can sometimes catch them on sale used on this forum for $100-150 in like new condition.

They don't look as cool as the stock setup but after 200-300 miles in the saddle"cool" goes out the window!

Good info here as I am considering seats as well. I can get past the loks as I would use it mostly as a touring seat and just use the stock around town.

Does it push you foward at all? I seem to be sitting on the top/back of the stock a lot of times.

Back support just OK? or really pretty noticable improvement?

Thanks,
Arthur

Had one on my Heritage and quite liked it.It was better by a long way than stock but not as good as the Corbin i have now.I pretty much wanted a 2 piece seat and the Sundowner is 1 piece. At least with a 2 piece you can ride with a solo seat which looks pretty cool.

Good luck.
