Default Greetings, and looking for input.

Greetings all,
I am new to this forum, but not new to forums or bikes. I will say I've been riding most of my life.

My current scoot is an 04 Fatboy EFI. She's the love of my life, and I know her little ticks and know just how to ride her. I rode out to Sturgis75 this year (2k miles each way) and not a peep out of her. That is until about 200 miles from home. I noticed a new tick. Sort of like when you are going too slow for a high gear, except it was happening at about 60. And it wasn't as forceful, more like somebody was tapping the underside of the seat with a hammer really fast. It feels like a flat spot or rock in the tire, except when I pull the clutch it goes away. After analyzing it on the road, I remembered I hit a huge pothole(PA) a short time before it started.

Anyway, I got home and let her and myself rest for a couple of days to make sure it wasn't in my head... NOPE, still there. OK let's check the primary chain to see if it shimmied loose. I got about two notches off the tensioner and it is within book specs. Still getting the vibration. But I also noticed by chance that my front pipe is shaking heavily at the same time I am feeling the vibration. I put my foot against the rear pipe, nothing. Cam cover, nothing. Jugs, nothing. The air cleaner does have the shake but not as much.

This leads me to think the rubber in the motor mount has given out, except that I am hard mounted.

Any input?!?!

Glad you made the Sturgis trip without issue. No idea on the problem, moving you back to the top of the queue.

Could be a rear exhaust valve sticking. Does it do it at idle or just higher rpm's?

Sounds like you have an exhaust leak, they "tick" when you apply load to then engine and are quiet when the engine has no load. Look for soot on the exhaust pipe by the flange, leaks normally leave a sooty trail. Pretty easy to swap the exhaust gaskets or perhaps your flange just came loose since the pipe is rattling. I like to use penetrating oil on exhaust nuts as they live a hard life and can get rusty and break pretty easily.
