Pick it up, go riding for a couple of days and another problem and hear "I don't have room in the shop for a couple of weeks bring it in on _____." The bike sits longer due to parts not being in stock...

The problems got bigger, the wait times longer and when I thought everything was finally fixed, the new motor with less than 2000 miles on it went out. Everything was trashed and have to be replaced because the parts slapper that was used by the indy was a friend, not a skilled mechanic.

That is the reason behind my "you should be lucky your able to ride" comment.
The guy is asking for help, but instead of something useful you offer up a worthless comment because your bitter over your own problems. Classic.

I ended up returning it because it was so wide Zi almost felt like I could sit two pool side by side. Plus I put it in the floor in my house and sat on it. It felt so hard.

So if you know what you want for sure, order from Dennis Kirk.
I hear that, this was the reason I contacted Mustang, and then talked with Harley. Mustang actually told the Harley Parts Manager that I could ride it for the Weekend and if I wasn't satisfied, return it for a full refund, Which is pretty cool. Although, I'm really hoping it's as comfortable as many of you tell me......

I called Mustang directly as I also have an account with them and to my surprise one of the seats was in stock (they had over 20 of them) and the other would be available to ship the next day. I cancelled the orders through my distributors and got them directly through Mustang 3 days later....This may not be the case all the time but I was taking the initiative and not letting the distributors keep me and my customers waiting.

What is the Mustang part number? I'll call them on Monday and get the scoop from my Rep there.
Hey DFW...... the parts are the Wide Vintage Solo Part # 75096 and the Wide Touring Vintage rear Seat Part # 75097. Thanks for the help.

I just got off the phone with Mustang, I was told that seat is 3-4 weeks out from the order date. There is a backorder line for that seat and they are filled in order of order date. I know you ordered the seat a while back now so you should not have much of a wait left. I hope this helps...

Well, just an update, as I don't really like ******* companies and like to give credit where it's due. I did get a call yesterday afternoon that my Seat is in so I'll be picking it up today. Only 1.5 weeks behind schedule which isn't too bad. Certainly better then 3 weeks longer.

FWIW, I've ridden a Mustang vintage wide solo on my "94 FLSTN since '98. After 150,000 or so miles, the seat has broken in to fit my backside, but still works great. Last Friday I rode it for 7 hours and could have done more. That's at age 63 with a bad back.

Wow, Good to hear. I put my seat on the day I got it, got out for a couple small rides, nothing major, but right off the bat it feels good but needing to be broken in. Definitely larger seating area and the Wife likes that. And I was worried it may possibly look too big for the bike, but with my sissy bar, it actually fills the space a little nicer then the stock. So so far, very happy. Now the HOG rally at Seaside Heights coming up this weekend. Get a few more miles on the seat.

Ordered mine from J&P cycles, received it in 4 days. I love it, the woman loves it. It's a fantastic seat in my opinion

Well, a few more rides to break it in and should be set. Got the Kuryakyn Retractable passenger pegs coming this week and my wife should be set.
