I don't know if that would work or not, but if you're gonna take that bad boy off anyway, why not paint/powdercoat the stocker? If you were local, I'd say bring it by, and I'd coat it for you, for cheap!

Thanks for the offer. It would probably be insanely expensive to get that done in Tokyo. I'll have to measure a Sporty clamp the next time I'm at a dealer. If it doesn't work I may buy another stock softail clamp on ebay and send it off for powdercoat.
Yeah, Tokyo really isn't local! You might check into some Stateside dealers, and see if they'll coat a new clamp and send it to you, although ebay would be cheaper.
I'm wondering if a black top clamp from a sportster or dyna will fit the stock bar/risers on my train. Anybody tried this?
The stock chrome top clamp is blinding me when the sun reflects off it. Plus, I think a black clamp would look cool on a Train.
The clamp with the Bar 'N Shield emblem is one of my favorite things on my Train,I like it chrome and polish it until itthe reflection is bright enough to settrees on fire during the dry season
Saw a really nice Train last weekend parked outside Stage Stop in Wisconsin that had the stock clamp powder-coated black, not my thing but it looked good. That guy had his Train so detailed out it was amazing. He must have put 10 straight coats of S100 Engine Brighteneronit at a time....
